Bottom Line: Based on the popular Broadway musical (including songs from Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Poison and Night Ranger to name a few), this over the top, narratively thin and exuberantly cheesy anthem to love and late 80’s hair band glam rock is, in a word, rad! Proudly waving its index and pinky finger-pronged Rock On fist to-and-fro, it’s a loud, frenzied, colorful, raucous, hot, sticky-sweet cinematic kegger…and everyone’s invited to grab a red Solo cup and chug from the fountain of fun. The willing, able and semi-musically inclined cast has an infectious blast – with Tom Cruise, as the ultimate whacked-out rock god, outrageously stealing the show. Again, with its thin story you’re not exactly being taken down to Paradise City because even this rose has a few minor thorns, but if you don’t need nothin’ but a good time – how can you resist ROCK OF AGES?!
