THE AVENGERS (A)

Bottom Line: Shield yourself from the few soulless nay saying reviews because this action-packed, bare-knuckled, summer action flick hammers it out of the park! Earth’s mightiest heroes finally converge to bring us an exciting, witty, confident, solidly crafted, popcorn-munching blockbuster – a movie solely focused on entertaining that simultaneously blows the doors off many of the superhero movies before it (save Christopher Nolan’s still-in-progress Batman trilogy; a different animal all together). You’ll definitely benefit from a little homework beforehand (seeing IRON MAN, THE INCREDIBLE HULK, IRON MAN 2, THOR and/or CAPTAIN AMERICA wouldn’t hurt…well, watching IRON MAN 2 might hurt a little) but as a standalone entity – to the untrained non-nerd – this history making flick is a super-charged delight. Marvel’s THE AVENGERS is a smash!

Starring: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg and Samuel L. Jackson
Directed by: Joss Whedon (BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER (TV), FIREFLY (TV) and SERENITY)

Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins. (Walt Disney Studios)
