SOURCE CODE (B+)

Starring: Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan and Vera Farmiga

Directed by: Duncan Jones (MOON)
Rated: PG-13
Story: When decorated soldier Captain Colter Stevens wakes up in the body of an unknown man, he discovers he's part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train. In an assignment unlike any he's ever known, he learns he's part of a government experiment called the "Source Code," a program that enables him to cross over into another man's identity in the last 8 minutes of his life. With a second, much larger target threatening to kill millions in downtown Chicago, Colter re-lives the incident over and over again, gathering clues each time, until he can solve the mystery of who is behind the bombs and prevent the next attack. (Summit Entertainment)

Bottom Line: GROUNDHOG DAY meets SPEED by way of television’s QUANTUM LEAP. Put those all together, like this movie, and you’re left with a smart, fun, breezy, easily-accessible, straight-shooting, popcorn-munching, action-packed, romantic sci-fi thriller. It hooks you in and entertains…and that is the source of your entertainment this weekend (well, at least two hours of it anyway).

I can't believe you gave this a B+! This movie just blew. The story fell flat. The ending was wretched. It was like Groundhog Day... but only in the sense you relive that piece of time over and over. That was it. At least GHD had laughs and a plot as time went on. When you saw the ending, it was like... I don't know... Ridiculous. There was no way to end that movie successfully.
