Starring: Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis, Christina Applegate and Jenna Fischer

Directed by: The Farrelly Brothers (DUMB AND DUMBER and THERE’S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY)

Rated: R

Story: Rick and Fred are best friends who have a lot in common, including the fact that they have each been married for many years. But when the two men begin to show signs of restlessness at home, their wives take a bold approach to revitalizing their individual marriages: granting them a "hall pass," one week of freedom to do whatever they questions asked. (Warner Bros.)

Bottom Line: The last time The Farrelly Brothers made a solid comedy (THERE’S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY) the year was 1998. They’ve lost some of their touch over the past 12 years and it shows... There’s some fun to be had but the effort as a whole feels forcefully flat as they try to balance the sweet with the insane. Laughter does occasionally ensue but for the most part this HALL PASS feels more like detention.
