Bottom Line: I was
hoping this whole concept – including the title – would kind of write my review
for me…but the truth is this mindlessly violent flick doesn’t completely suck (I’m hoping to get that line as a pull quote
on the cover of the DVD/Bluray release; wish me luck). It flips the city of New Orleans on its back
and exposes its seedy underbelly of crime – which was pretty cool – and the freakishly
ripped Stallone makes the whole affair remotely watchable with his
begrudgingly, steroid-infused, monosyllabic, Yo Adrian! charisma…
Everything else though is completely derivative of a dozen things you’ve
seen before – done a half-dozen times better.
Jam packed with bloodied, brutal mayhem, racial epithets and generically
over told story – this is the kind of movie you forget the second you leave the
theater. Ending the blandness of it all
with a BULLET meeting head might be a bit harsh – but I would have easily
settled with a ball peen hammer.
