Bottom Line: Haphazardly shifting from witty to lazy,
raunchy to charming, good natured to brutal and funny to flat – HIT & RUN
is an unconfidently and chaotically crafted chase flick. The plot is week, the characters are shallow
– but, somehow, this vehicle never finds itself running on empty. It’s high-octane, it’s over-the-top, everyone
involved is clearly having a blast and then suddenly (okay, perhaps sporadically)
it cruise controls it’s way to mildly entertaining on the winning chemistry
fumes sparked by Shepard and Bell. It’s an
off-beat, on-the-road rom-com that may not win the checkered flag but at least
it ultimately finishes the race.
