Bottom Line: An energetic, often entertaining and yet occasionally unremarkable aliens vs. the neighborhood potluck sci-fi comedy (sci-fimedy, anyone?! No…?) that only really works due to the chemistry of its cast. The movie itself strains to deliver anything completely new - but a refreshingly subdued Ben Stiller, a dependably motor-mouthed Vince Vaughn, a simple-minded, slimmed-down, very funny Jonah Hill and a hilariously dry-witted Richard Ayoade inject enough Go Team, goofball enthusiasm to make this vulgar, semi-gory, average Joe, GHOSTBUSTERS-meets-MEN IN BLACK-esque flick work. It’s not groundbreaking cinema but it’s definitely worth a chuckle. If you’ve got a couple of extra bucks in your pocket and you’re looking for a little mindless fun amidst the explosive box office behemoths of summer – it’s probably time you watched THE WATCH.
