BTMG's Top 20 Movies of the 90's

I look back fondly on that evening, just three short weeks ago, when I sat to compile my top 20 films of the 80’s.  What seemed a difficult task at the time, now holds nothing on the rigors of putting together my top 20 films that opened between 1990-1999.  Much, much harder than I ever imagined.  Like last time, I’m sure everyone can find something that should have made my list (or at least theirs).
These titles were all seriously considered: RESERVOIR DOGS, THE IRON GIANT, WHAT ABOUT BOB?, DAZED AND CONFUSED, BEFORE SUNRISE, TOMMY BOY, MIAMI BLUES, A BRONX TALE, SNEAKERS, THE HUDSUCKER PROXY, SEARCHING FOR BOBBY FISCHER, SEVEN, TOY STORY 2, TWELVE MONKEYS, BEAUTIFUL GIRLS, OUT OF SIGHT, THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, ROUNDERS, THE BIG LEBOWSKI, DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE, PRIMAL FEAR, SWINGERS, RUSHMORE, DANCES WITH WOLVES, FIGHT CLUB, ELECTION, OFFICE SPACE, TERMINATOR 2, THE PLAYER, GROUNDHOG DAY, THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS, TRUE LIES, THE LION KING, THE SANDLOT, QUIZ SHOW, THERE’S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY, THE TRUMAN SHOW, CASINO, THE USUAL SUSPECTS, THE SIXTH SENSE, THE MATRIX, THE RED VIOLIN, FARGO, THE FRIGHTENERS, GATTICA, CRIMSON TIDE, HOOP DREAMS, JACKIE BROWN, LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL and WATERWORLD (yeah, again, not a typo).
Have a look and tell me what would make your list…

  1. L.A. Confidential (1997)
  2. Goodfellas (1990)
  3. Saving Private Ryan (1998)
  4. Pulp Fiction (1994)
  5. Unforgiven (1992)
  6. Miller’s Crossing (1990)
  7. The Fisher King (1991)
  8. The Shawshank Redemption (1994)

Solid list. I guess I'm going to have to watch "Waiting for Guffman again. It put me to sleep the first time.
