DR. SEUSS' THE LORAX (C-/A+/A+)

Bottom Line: The world of Dr. Seuss comes to eye-poppingly vibrant, 3-D life in this eco-friendly, greed-bashing, moderation-is-a-good-thing, cautionary tale. The colors are vivid, the musical numbers cheesy and the message is about as subtle as a mule kick to the temple. Short on story and chaotically lively, my boys still dubbed it the best kid-themed movie they’ve seen this year (update: BRAVE is now their favorite of the year). Parents probably won’t find it as creatively engaging and heartfelt as movies like DESPICABLE ME and HORTON HEARS A WHO – but the kids…they’ll lap this save-the-trees-messaged flick up with a shovel.

Starring the voices of: Danny DeVito, Ed Helms, Zac Efron, Taylor Swift and Betty White
Directed by: Chris Renaud (DESPICABLE ME)
Rated: PG
Running time: 94 minutes
Story: The animated adventure follows the journey of a 12-year-old as he searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams. To find it he must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world. (Universal Pictures)
