HOP (C-/A/A)

Starring: Russell Brand and James Marsden

Directed by: Tim Hill (ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS and GARFIELD: A TALE OF TWO KITTIES)
Rated: PG

Story: From the creators of "Despicable Me" comes "Hop," the comic tale of Fred, an out-of-work slacker who accidentally injures the Easter Bunny and must take him in as he recovers. (Universal Pictures)

Bottom Line: HOP is just a hare above being annoying (that’d be a great critic quote for the DVD box art, wouldn’t it?!) and if you’ve seen the live-action-meets-animated ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS then you’ll be prepared for what this has in store. Casting the voice talents of Russell Brand as the Easter Bunny was a clever move but almost everything else smacks of a Santa Claus storyline rip-off. There are a few laughs, a cute factor at play and my 6- and 4- year old boys loved it (they both gave it an A; based on my intricate grading scale) so definitely take your kids but don’t you, as a parent, go in expecting too much…or you’ll come out hopping mad.

I couldn't agree more with your review of this. Alvin gets a new Hare-do... That's the quote for the DVD box. LoL
