BROOKLYN'S FINEST (C-)

Starring: Richard Gere, Ethan Hawke, Don Cheadle, Ellen Barkin, Wesley Snipes and Vincent D'Onofrio

Directed by: Antoine Fuqua

Story: When NYPD's Operation Clean Up targets the notoriously drug-ridden BK housing project, three officers find themselves swept away by the violence and corruption of Brooklyn's gritty 65th Precinct and its most treacherous criminals. During seven fateful days, Eddie, Sal and Tango find themselves hurtling inextricably toward the same fatal crime scene and a shattering collision with destiny. (Overture Films)

Rated: R for bloody violence throughout, strong sexuality, nudity, drug content and pervasive language

Bottom Line: The great cast and high drama are used to little effect in this cliché-ridden, morally righteous, mostly misguided film about cops on the edge. BROOKLYN’S FINEST?! Eh, feels more like BROOKLYN’S JUST BELOW AVERAGE.
