EVERYBODY'S FINE (D+)

Starring: Robert De Niro, Drew Barrymore, Kate Beckinsale and Sam Rockwell

Story: Everybody's Fine follows a widower who embarks on an impromptu road trip to reconnect with each of his grown children only to discover that their lives are far from picture perfect. At the heart of "Everybody's Fine" is the theme of family and physical and emotional distances traveled to bring the members back together. (Miramax)

Rated: PG-13 for thematic elements and brief strong language

Bottom Line: Deniro’s performance is Oscar-worthy as he plays the antithesis of most of his tough guy rolls – but he can’t quite salvage this predictable, sappy, by-the-numbers, shoulda-been-made for Lifetime Channel, holiday dramedy. I should mention that it must have connected with some as I saw more than a few tears shed…unless, come to think of, they were like me just and bored to tears.
