A serendipitously squirrelly spinoff of 2008’s Lady
Liberty lopping invasion flick, 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE is a tension-fueled joy
ride through Bonkersville! It’s a
masterfully mysterious sci-fi survivalist psychological thriller that sucks you
in with subtlety, compels you with crazy and rocks you with a simplistically
riveting tale of three souls grappling with the confinement of the
unknown. Don’t be fooled, this is no
horror-movie-of-the-month monster mash – it’s a confidently claustrophobic
character piece with a myriad of graciously earned thrills and chills. …and along with its keep-you-on-your-toes
mentality; it’s possessed by a sharp-witted and uncomfortably humorous script,
winningly calculated direction (from a first time director no less) and three
perfectly presented performances lead by an award-worthy John Goodman. Oddly, it’s one of the most effectively
loudest quite movies I’ve ever seen.
Potently deliberate and viciously charming – the title may clearly state
‘10’, but this gnarly, multi-genred piece of audience-pleasing cinema goes to
eleven.

Story:
A
young woman wakes up after a terrible accident to find that she's locked in a
cellar with a doomsday prepper, who insists that he saved her life and that the
world outside is uninhabitable following an apocalyptic catastrophe. Uncertain
what to believe, the woman soon determines that she must escape at any cost.
